Anna and Annie discuss the 2019 Booker Prize Longlist, announced on 24 July. We're thrilled to see My Sister, The Serial Killer and Lanny on the list. There is huge anticipation for The Testaments by Margaret Atwood (and Annie has a confession about The Handmaid's Tale).
Our book of the week is City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert. Described by the New York Times as a 'love- and booze- filled romp through 1940s New York', it centres on Vivian and her life in the theatre.
Next week, Anna and Amanda will be reading The Train Was On Time by Heinrich Böll, translated by Leila Vennewitz.
