Books On The Go

May 3, 2020

Anna and Amanda discuss the William Dean Howells Medal, awarded to Richard Powers for The Overstory.

Our book of the week is The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness by Kyung-sook Shin translated by Ha-yun Jung.  A coming-of-age story of a factory girl in Seoul in the 1970s, this shows a different side of the rapid development of South Korea. Cited in Korea as one of the most important literary novels of the decade.
